A New Sea Snafu Comic, maybe the last
On Wednesday the 17th another Sea Snafu comic will be posted. Since this strip actually took a couple of months to finish it maybe the last. I have had little time to draw since buying a house and becoming a full-fledge diver. The reality is that on most boats there isn't that much space to draw without being in someone else's way. During this last year I have bought a laptop, a PSP, and a DVD player (when the laptop's sound broke) to occupy my time while being offshore. The last real excuse is that the jobs I have been on lately, have been 12-14 hour a day and seven days a week. After working that I really haven't had the motivation to draw. I rather relax and watch a movie. This last year I hit a new recorded and worked over 200 days offshore. Although the money was good, working that many days caused a serious burn-out at the end of the year.
This comic did actually happened on a job I was on. The diver in the first panel was given some good instructions on deck about the installation of a smart flange(the right most product) (See this also). As you can see from the first two panels he didn't know what he was doing. I had to go down there (yes the diver in the second panel would be me) lift and wiggle that smart flange all the way on. It was only hanging on by an inch. A ten inch smart flange was actually very heavy and there were concern that it would fall off onto me. The last panel is a direct quote that was spoken to the first diver after his latest snafu was discovered.
Lastly I have been wondering how the this comic image became darker when I transfered it between my laptop and home computer. The second panel's mud and diver was completely black when it was shown on the home PC. I had to brighten the image to get it to look like the original on the laptop. Anyone have a clue why? I was using Photoshop and I don't think it was just the angle of the laptop screen.
